Simatec MultiBrew Tank: Kettle & Whirlpool

The multibrew tank has been conceived to realize in one single vessel: the Mash, the Boiling and the Whirpool.

All the SIMATEC brew houses use the paddle Whirpool system, the multibrew tank is a completely free mash system with no grids or recycling pumps.
The combined Kettle & Whirpool Tank, is thanks to the patent of a special DUPLEX paddle that are as wide as the tank diameter to grant a homogenous and vigorous mixing and consequently an optimal thermo exchange (see below video).

The DUPLEX paddle, rotating places the paddles at 45° for an adequate mixing of the wort, while rotating in the opposite direction, places them in horizontal, in order to have a paddle Whirpool. The paddles’ rotation is automatic and takes place only because of the fluid dynamics forces effect.
In this way, at the end of the boiling, just reversing the paddle rotation, it is possible to perform a fast and efficient Whirpool, without transferring the wort in a specific tank, operation that would require time and would increase the hot oxidation.

All the SIMATEC brewhouses use saturated steam at variable pressure & temperature to have a well controlled and rapid heating. To enhance the heating exchange Simatech have installed the following elements to their MultiBrew Tanks:
- jacket on the conical bottom, that can increase the wort convective circulation
- heating jacket on the plating, that can increase the wort convective turbulence
- tube nest central superheater (optional), that can overheat the upper part of the wort, creating an inner falls in order to increase the wort evaporation during the boiling in.

The multibrew tank volume has a working capacity of 1.65 times the nominal production value, i.e. it is really capacious to allow a vigorous boiling and consequently a high evaporation (a high protein coagulation and precipitation), also thanks to the foam control system, that regulates the steam flow to have the best possible boiling.

The tank has a 15degrees sloping floor and a bottom device with (pneumatic) buffer valve which grants a fast and total emptying and a easy sanitization of the lower part of the tank.

The tank roof is conical at 15° with an inspection door of 400 mm and observatory for the control of the contents without opening. Also installed is a lighting lamp, 3 washing balls at 120°, with DN 100 boiling steam evacuation pipe, sensor for the control of the foam formation and to automatize the inductive boiling process and alimentary capacitive bar level sensor.
