Tomato Optical Sorter by Protec

Protec’s line of tomato optical sorters meets any processing requirements of the agri-food industry: whole tomatoes, peeled tomatoes, pulps, diced and tomato for paste. The tomato optical sorters reject products unsuitable for color, or identify and eliminate defects and foreign bodies. Protec’s line for tomato processing features also sorting machines for whole tomatoes based on size and draining machines for the juice from diced products.

  • Whole tomatoThe sorters reject whole tomatoes with black, rotten or green color spots. Identify and reject foreign bodies, such as wood splinters, plastic, ears of corn or corncobs, cans, bottles, small animals. Go to optical selectors: ExtraSorter - ExtraSorter 3W - Roll Grader. For Cherry Tomatoes use the ExtraSorter Jet
  • Peeled tomato: After peeling, the sorting is done with WT camera technology that detects with great accuracy black and green discolorations on the surface of the product and white or yellow color spots inside it. Go to optical selectors: ExtraSorter - ExtraSorter 3W - Dixair WT
  • Pulp and diced: The optical sorters use an unique vision system that sorts green, yellow, orange and black tomatoes: an accurate and reliable sort for a quality-finished product. In sorting semi-processed products, Protec’s sorters suction products with semi-liquid consistency and make it easy to collect them. Go to optical selectors: Aspirx - Dixair  - Roll Feeder

Protec’s optical sorters use the latest and more reliable technology and provide assistance in every phase of the tomato processing production. They are built with heavy-duty technology and extremely accurate in sorting. Thanks to their different sizes, the sorters can be used also in extremely demanding situations, on any type of line in terms of size and quantity of product processed.

Extrasorter optical system is capable of identifying fruit by their colours and of separating them for a variety of purposes or into different qualities.  The Extrasorter 3W is a real jewel in the crown, able to separate the product into 3 different classes. The electro-pneumatic ejector blade system effectively targets small fruit such as lemons, limes and clementines and large sized fruit such as oranges and grapefruits. Models available: 20C production of 23 T/hr and 500mm belt width; 30C production of 34 T/hr and 750mm belt width; 40C production of 45 T/hr and 1000mm belt width and 60C production of 60Ton/hr and 1500mm belt width.

The Roll-Grading system performs product cleaning and grading functions, as it conveys it along the production line. The first set of rollers moves the product, removing small size rejects that are conveyed to the first hopper. Thus, leaves, grass, pedicels, and other small sizes rejects are removed.
The second set of rollers is used for grading the product. Products bigger than a specified size move towards the exit, while smaller ones are collected in a second hopper. The size deemed as waste can be manually adjusted in the first set of rollers and the grade can be adjusted in the second set of rollers. Two models available: Roll-Grading 100 and 150.

For diced fruit sorting the new DixAirWT has proved to be the most efficient in detecting defects such as off-color, rot, and discoloration in black, green and white colors. The sorter uses a high-speed and high-resolution system of linear cameras, that examines the product moving on the conveyor belt. The images are analysed on an electronic card designed by Protec, that uses the latest integration and speed technology to ensure maximum performance. Defects as small as 0.5 x 0.25mm in size are analysed in conjunction with a powerful image processing software. The sorter is also provided with a unique back-lighting device installed below the belt to illuminate the product and better show the defects. DixAirWT models: WT50-WT50 production of 30 T/hr and 500mm belt width; WT100-WT100 production of 60 T/hr and 1000mm belt width; WT150-WT150 production of 90 Ton/hr and 1500mm belt width.

The Aspirx sorter is for compote, pulp and puree. AspirX eliminates impurities with a high level of accuracy, making the product pleasant even for the most sensitive palates. The AspirX F sorter has an accurate vision system that identifies even the smallest defects. Thanks to the exclusive defect removing suction system, the sorter supplies an output product with excellent organoleptic properties and high commercial value. Aspirx models: 50-50 production of 1-7 T/hr and 500mm belt width; 100-100 production of 6-13 T/hr and 1000mm belt width; 150-150 production of 9-22 Ton/hr and 1500mm belt width.

The Roll-Feeder conveyor system efficiently moves diced tomatoes. A series of rollers created with a specific design and placed at manually adjustable distance, performs the following functions: Grading of the diced product; Draining and cleaning the product; Eliminating seeds, water, small objects; Homogeneous distribution of the product. The Roll-Feeder system, in addition to improving the quality of the product, is ideal in combination with the Aspirx or Dixair types of optical sorting systems. The system comes in two versions: 14 and 28 rollers.
